Canon makes two extension tubes, the EF. With many lenses, as you focus closer, the length of the lens increases. Or to put it another way, the lens moves away from the camera as the subject moves . Can anybody direct me to a chart that would show the closest focusing distance one gains with a given Canon lens using the Canon extension . The Canon EF 25mm Extension Tube II is used to allow a lens to focus closer than it does natively. This is accomplished by moving the lens 25mm farther away . There are two Canon extension tubes - EFII and EFII. The number relates to the length of the tube - the 25mm gives a greater magnification than the 12mm . Extension Tube EF II is especially suited for close-focusing with wide-angle lenses. Macro extension tubes and close-up lenses are devices that add high.
Note: Diagram assumes that the lens is symmetric (pupil magnification = 1). Here is some information on the use of various close-up lenses and extension tubes with Canon lenses. Working distance is the distance from the front element .
